Towards the end of my final year at school, somebody came to my school and talked about food technology, and it just sounded interesting to me – something that people can actually relate to, something that affects us every day in good ways!

Because we all need to eat and it is and will become a even biggest problem to feed everybody. Plus I found it really cool to work on something I love and it is always a good conversation starter 😉
What do you do? I am a cheese scientist!

I don’t really think of myself as a food scientist (despite working at the Institute of Food Research!). I’m a molecular biologist, and I got into molecular biology sort of by accident. I was at university doing a course called pathobiology and we had learned about DNA and the things you can do with it and I got the chance to do a short research project in a molecular biology lab. I discovered that this was what I wanted to do for a career.
