      I quite like the fact that Charles Darwin waited a very long time and collected a lot of evidence before publishing his ideas – he was very patient and thorough, and those are good qualities in a scientist.

      In food science, Harold McGee is one of my heroes, because the amount and scope of knowledge in his book “On Food and Cooking”, and the beauty of the writing, are amazing. Bill Bryon’s books are similarly inspiring for his grasp of complex things and his ability to communicate them beautifully – I’m currently reading his book “At Home”. Terry Pratchett is amazing for his creativity with words.
