If you want to choose one unhealthy food to exclude from your diet, my advice is – sugary fizzy drinks. Choose sugar-free alternatives.

If you want to do one thing to improve the health of your diet – eat more bran. (Porridge is a particularly good source, as are wholemeal bread and oat bread.)

Vitamins and minerals are very good for you – they help your body work and function properly. Fruit, vegetables, oily fish and red meat all contain high levels of these things, which is why they are recommended. As Grant said, avoid too much sugary food that doesn’t contain vitamins or minerals like fizzy drinks. If you eat too much fatty food the fat won’t get converted to energy and will get stored as fat, which can give you heart problems. Try and eat a balanced diet – there is some evidence to say that even chocolate in moderation can be good for you!
