      Hi,
I think it is, in a way, a good thing.
Consumers and firm producing the food are always wanting to buy the cheapest product. That is why food is more and more imported and product are not of good quality or not what was expected.
Luckily, in this case it was only horse meat, which even if some people are against eating horse (I don’t as long as the horse was raised and killed without cruelty) is not dangerous for your health.
Now people are more aware of the problem and hopefully things will change. Food will perhaps be more expansive but it will be what it should be! Plus I hope it will make people buy British product which are produce using some of the highest standard in world which will help farmers have a fairer price for their work ( At the moment they are having a very difficult time because consumers expect to be able to buy food for less than it cost to be produce).

I agree with Julie’s excellent answer.
Also, one of the results of the horse meat scandal will be that food producers and the supermarkets will think more carefully about what might be being put into our food. It has also resulted in more testing of food to make sure it is what it says it is. This will increase the safety and quality of the food we eat.
