Maths and physics were my favourite subjects, followed by chemistry. Maths allows you to feel clever(!), physics helps you understand how the world behaves, chemistry allows you to make new things, and is the closest to food science. Kitchens were certainly the first laboratories, and some scientists will admit they learned most of their scientific skills in the kitchen.

Biology was my real favourite (and my best subject at school) along with physics. I found both really easy and had good teachers. Chemistry I found much harder to relate to, and so I didn’t do quite so well at it (sadly I had to 2 years of chemistry as part of my degree).

The work I do at the moment is more bioogical than anything else.
