• Question: is there some foods that you have in new zealand that we dont have in britain xx

      A few – feijoa (a kind of fruit with a green skin and creamy inside) is one that I haven’t come across over here. Another one is a particular type of ice lolly called a Jelly Tip; another is hokey pokey (which here we call cinder toffee, I think, but it’s not very common. And pavlovas are much more common in New Zealand, having been invented there.

      I spoke to my New Zealand friend about this (she is also a food scientist!) and she said a kumura, which is a sort of sweet potato. I am going to New Zealand in a few weeks so I will have to try it – having studied potatoes for a year I couldn’t leave it un-tested!
