Definitely – teaching and inspiring the young is so rewarding. And I am also involved in the research side of things and when an experiment shows something very exciting, this can be very rewarding. For example, a student of mine has just done some work on cooking chicken in a water bath at different temperatures and times and then testing it for juiciness, and the results are very interesting and when I shared the results at a conference yesterday all the other chefs were similarly excited! We are hoping to publish the data which is the most rewarding – its like the first time you see your name on a book cover!. (I also just made icecream in class, so this was immediately rewarding!).

Yes – similar to Rachel, teaching is rewarding, discovering new things is rewarding, and seeing your name in print is very satisfying.

      Yes
Straight away when I see cheese but also when I speak about what I discover to cheese maker and then tell me it will make a difference to how they make cheese!
