      it travels better through water as it is a nice homogenous fluid. Anything inside an object which may reflect the sound (such as bubbles) cause it problems. sound also travels best through obects which it travels the fastest through. That is why it travels better in water than air as its speed in water is around 1500m/s and in air is 343 m/s
