      I have many things about my work that I like, the people I work with and teach, the ‘toys’ I get to play with, the joy of discovering things no one else has, to name a few. But I guess my favourite is answering the questions that people want answered whether that is questions I think of about the bacteria I work with, or questions you guys ask – science is about answering the ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions in life.

      Discovering new things is one of my favourite thing along with knowing I am making a difference.

      Interacting with students – asking them questions, answering their questions, thinking about what they need to know, helping them learn – it’s a buzz and very rewarding.

      I love having my own lab which I designed myself, where I can carry out research projects that I think are fascinating, and where I can inspire budding young chefs to get excited by science!
