Pasteurization promoted by Louis Pasteur 1864, it was discovered before that heat could help preserve food but it is Pasteur that prove germs was the cause and they could be killed by heating and cooling. It change medicine too, before no sterilization of instrument, disinfection or separation between ill, dead and healthy people in hospital so a lot of people died of minor illness due to infection.
When you think about it we all think it is now normal to clean our house, hand… to stop germ spreading but less than 200 years ago we had no ideas about it!
The other invention is internet, wouldn’t know all this without it (and TV 😉 ).

Having spent many hours as a child washing and drying plates and cutlery I have to say the dishwasher gets my vote as the best thing ever!
