We initially thought it would be really easy, and that we could just coat the gobstopper with different layers of flavour. However, everyone actually eats sweets in very different ways – some people will suck on them, others will chew them, some will keep it in one side of their mouth which would mean that the flavours on that side of the gobstopper would be released much earlier, which could cause unpleasant mixing of tomato soup and blueberry pie! That’s why in the end we decided to make it into a drink. This makes it much easier to control the way the flavours are delivered because everyone drinks in a fairly standard way.
