• Question: Hi Do you think that there is other life somewhere in the universe?

      If I had to guess I would say yes, it seems strange if only earth had some life but it would perhaps be a very different type of life…

      I think there must be. To have life on only one planet out of the millions that must be in the universe seem too unlikely.

      I’m going to disagree with the other two and say No, certainly with respect to intelligent life. There’s as yet no evidence for intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, so the only argument is based on probability, and that argument is not conclusive – the conditions required for life are so specific that the probability of it occurring independently elsewhere is extremely low.

      I think Grant is probably right, but I love the idea that there is a planet somewhere else full of beings all asking themselves this same question!
